We're on our way to Colorado and Wyoming, ready to cover events as they unfold. Our little car is packed full of gouache, casein, watercolor, fountain pens, coffee, and peanut-butter-flavored granola bars.
Very intimidating photo. If I were working the counter in that gas station convenience store, I'd rub the sleep out of my eyes, check that my more offensive tattoos were covered, and make sure my pre-mixed strings were nice and straight.

If you do go through central Iowa, Winterset has some lovely covered bridges to paint (birthplace of John Wayne and also where Bridges of Madison County was filmed)! Just 15 miles south of I-80 on Hwy 169. :) Safe travels and have fun!
Thanks, everybody. Steve and RedHarpArts, the QR code takes you to the GurneyJourney blog. It's the official press pass for the journalists on our blog team (basically me, Jeanette, and our sons). I worked them up in Photoshop and laminated them. The design includes the "Department of Art" graphic to match the embroidered patches (thanks Steve!) on our uniforms and traffic cones. Press passes are not issued by the government. It's perfectly OK to make them yourself.
