Alpine Scene by E.T. Compton

The Grossglockner, 1880, watercolor, 40 cm (15.7 in) x 60 cm (23.6 in)

"Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice."

—'Fire and Ice' by Robert Frost

It's odd, frozen ice can also freeze a moment in time of raging waters and stormy clouds. See - The Bell Rock Lighthouse by J. M. W. Turner - that's one I copied a few years back and it really taught me how to paint energetically if you want to capture the energy of a scene ...or a Turner.

This is amazing, I am going to study it in every brushstroke!
