I always presumed that this was a make-believe thing, as I can't do it myself (and end up holding brushes in my mouth, usually). Maybe it's to do with the size of your hands?janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13588901637630537211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-21221197488708174852012-02-29T03:07:37.885-05:002012-02-29T03:07:37.885-05:00Thanks for sharing :-)Thanks for sharing :-)Bluhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12519994628335802996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-38950397887755771632012-02-29T02:50:08.639-05:002012-02-29T02:50:08.639-05:00Love Rodin's beard!Love Rodin's beard!Mike Lynch Photographyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08751727249641429517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-56004890036810876052012-02-28T22:22:36.824-05:002012-02-28T22:22:36.824-05:00I did a plein air sketch workshop with 15 high sch...I did a plein air sketch workshop with 15 high school kids today. Super, super fun. There were 5 other plein air groups; pastels, watercolor, photography, and oil paints. The oil paint students painted right up until the minute the bus arrived. The instructor then ran around and gave everyone a pizza box to transport their painting. I thought that was clever.Sketching Artisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16154250530072964453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-51056068234358941442012-02-28T22:18:31.213-05:002012-02-28T22:18:31.213-05:00I think that cigarette was lit! His hands were severely crippled, probably from arthritis. He required an assistant to place the brush in his hand. I was interested to see how quickly he decided on a color (apparently) and the speed with which he dabbed the paint on the canvas.

These are yet another reason why Gurney Journey is one of the high points of my day. And often it is so several times a day!
