They're very inexpensive, can be cut to size, and sticks to practically any flat surface. That's what I use and it works really well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-81855969256847784032014-06-19T10:23:33.511-04:002014-06-19T10:23:33.511-04:00If you have a Harbor Freight store in your area, t...If you have a Harbor Freight store in your area, they carry rare earth magnets.Frank Gabrielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12406783564121768745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-51685246298957922232014-06-19T09:59:06.591-04:002014-06-19T09:59:06.591-04:00Tom, I haven't seen them in hardware stores, b...Tom, I haven't seen them in hardware stores, but I think you can get them at Hobby Lobby. Another mail order source is magnets4less. They're also called rare earth magnets, and they're insanely strong: much more than regular magnets, and you should keep them away from your electronic devices.James Gurneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01870848001990898499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-88356907106375415092014-06-19T09:55:17.181-04:002014-06-19T09:55:17.181-04:00Are neodymium magnets something that one is likely...Are neodymium magnets something that one is likely to find in any sort of store - hardware or the like - where they might be sold for other purposes? Another possibility I plan to try for an upcoming trip is to use a collapsible steel cup:

http://amzn.com/B0042B36Q8

This still requires carrying the water supply in a Nalgene container, but the steel cup collapses to such a small object that it hardly adds to the kit, and it should pair well with the magnets. There are slightly larger cups (5 0z.) available. I'll let you know how it works.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09596875722436085739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-68308379702731617812014-06-18T20:28:20.471-04:002014-06-18T20:28:20.471-04:00Hey James,

Just take one apart, it's just one panel and generally a paper seal around it... you'll know where the magnet is. They are boomerang-shaped and very strong. I use a plastic cup with a magnet inside and I stick another magnet under whatever surface I want it to stick to. So far neither has rusted.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
