Never me...I am a big fan of Quang Ho and his work. Never met him except through his instructional videos. In them he articulates principles on an intellectual level, with a clarity, that I think will resonate with most students of painting. I might have to think about "self similarity" for awhile, though! Thanks for the post James and for sharing so many scenes from your sketchbook.Robert J. If the documentation of this conference is going chronologically, then Jim, there is a gaping hole in your coverage : )
The night before Mr. Ho's demo, at the convention's awards banquet our own James Gurney gave the extremely well-recieved keynote speech in front of a packed ballroom (perhaps there were 1000 people in attendance?). In fact - after the speech a beaming Mr. Jonas said something like "That may have been the best keynote speech we have ever had here!"
I'm not sure if you are going to post on your speech, but for those who weren't there it was filled with anecdotes about process, interesting historical and career highlights as well as inspiring comments for application - all presented with entertaining anecdotes and vignettes.
There may be a few more followers on the blog after that speech - it made quite an impression.
Good work!!!
- Jonathan LintonJLFAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04803920021493855669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-48200068013383096962013-04-29T08:09:41.804-04:002013-04-29T08:09:41.804-04:00What a mind-blowing artist and post. Thanks so muc...What a mind-blowing artist and post. Thanks so much for sharing!

It's good to be reminded, as Ho reminds us, that the journey of painting is, in many ways, more the reward than is the finished piece. (Although admittedly the finish is the target that gives the journey direction.)Tom Harthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04770238579550226268noreply@blogger.com
