The fact that the Milwaukee Art Museum looks like an alien space station does nothing to take away from its nice collection.billhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02616075975131350091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-69642355776281514482011-03-08T02:48:30.222-05:002011-03-08T02:48:30.222-05:00Beautiful painting, unfortunately Finland is a bit...Beautiful painting, unfortunately Finland is a bit far.
It's interesting to notice how naturalism was often coupled to simbolism those days.Mariohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04477403806364388132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-19900030338300779832011-03-08T01:22:37.171-05:002011-03-08T01:22:37.171-05:00Went there on saturday and drooled over the painti...Went there on saturday and drooled over the paintings. It explains in depth how 19th century painters were influenced by photography and film, and what their thoughts were about these "new" media.
It's a must have for anyone who enjoys naturalistic work.

I only wish I had known about it when the show was still running in Amsterdam(can't make it to Finland ARGH!)Johanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02417615368000033233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-49515972016727461712011-03-07T17:28:25.548-05:002011-03-07T17:28:25.548-05:00Yes, I've read about this exhibition a while a...Yes, I've read about this exhibition a while ago, and I'm definitely planning to go down to Helsinki to see it soon.David Stillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06788583610600014354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-62747841630436603892011-03-07T15:43:51.548-05:002011-03-07T15:43:51.548-05:00This painting generally resides at the Milwaukee A...This painting generally resides at the Milwaukee Art Museum, because of which I had the good fortune to view it on a near-daily basis (I used to work there).
