And like Peggasus, I too studied his glazing techniques - I updated them to incorporate Liquin instead of varnish and it works pretty well.Mary Bullockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09718356993209078250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-91222984133866232152010-08-25T16:16:01.461-04:002010-08-25T16:16:01.461-04:00The artwork of Maxfield Parrish is what made me wa...The artwork of Maxfield Parrish is what made me want to paint in the first place. His illustrations for the Arabian Nights profoundly impressed me as a child. His art encapsulated all that was magical about art for me.kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07157191667153531127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-18132852154026483932010-08-25T14:46:09.763-04:002010-08-25T14:46:09.763-04:00I posted some evidence somewhat contrary to Schoon...I posted some evidence somewhat contrary to Schoonover's on my Pyle blog so as not to gum up the comments page here - in case anyone wants to read more on the topic.Ian Schoenherrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04906881923887306477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-4871042699553144842010-08-25T14:38:17.500-04:002010-08-25T14:38:17.500-04:00I love MP so much, he is one of my all-time favori...I love MP so much, he is one of my all-time favorites. I have (and have read) many books about him. When I was a painting student in college I experimented with the layered glazing techniques he used; failing miserably at them only enforced to me what a genius he was. I also named my first dog, a black Lab, Maxfield in his honor. Thanks for this.Peggasushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16430376275956260855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999230124118604245.post-71112788422925495372010-08-25T12:54:55.922-04:002010-08-25T12:54:55.922-04:00Very interesting, I was reading about Pyle and N.C...Very interesting, I was reading about Pyle and N.C recently. The author also seemed to think Parrish was a student of Pyle.

I do like that quote by Pyle, "It is easy enough to learn to draw; it is very difficult to learn to think".Mark Segalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01466334439121451321noreply@blogger.com
