Plein-Air Concept Art

Here's a tease frame from one of the videos I'm working on called "Fantasy in the Wild."

One of the segments will show how I create a concept painting of a giant robot from start to finish on location at construction sites and fast food alleys. This is the maquette, made of construction foam.

  1. That's amazing, never though one could make a maquette on location. Did you do any pre-planning or did it just come out as you were building it?

  2. The foreground miniature approach to painting -- for a practical, "in-canvas" composite! I can't wait to get this video!

  3. Fabio, I should have explained that I made the maquette in my workshop, and did the rest on location.

  4. Awww..so cute! Ironic that when you submit comments it says "I am not a robot". :(

  5. "Fantasy in the Wild" is beyond tantalizing! I don't think I've come across anyone who's made a book or video about plein-air concept art in this manner! Many young budding concept-artists would love to see this :)
