One of the first paintings that led to Dinotopia was
Waterfall City which I painted in 1988. At the time I hadn't thought of dinosaurs or pterosaurs yet. When I imagined how people should cross the gorge to the city, I imagined them flying hang gliders. These sketches show how the designs for those gliders evolved.
