Opening (Delayed from Saturday because of weather) of Dinotopia: The Fantastical Art of James Gurney
The Museum is scheduled to open to the public at noon, and it will stay open until 5:00, an hour later than usual. I'll give my presentation, "Fact and Fantasy: The Making of Dinotopia" at 2:00 in the auditorium, followed by booksigning. All are welcome.

Booksigning at the Delaware Museum Bookstore again on Sunday 4-5 pm.

Time TBA – Lecture and booksigning at the Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, MA. Open to the public, fee charged.

DCriller, yes, the presentations will be similar. The ones for the art schools will be pitched more for practicing artists, and the one at the museum will be more for general interest/families.

haha, wilmington delaware just happens to be directly in the middle of this huge storm, haha. saturday will be the worst, but sunday everythign should be pretty clear...
ReplyDeletewell anyway, if the doors to the museme are open i'll be there, by the way did you write above that there is a chance of "snot" on saturday? damn! first all this snow and now snot....looks like my ride up will be slippery and disgusting!
haha, but seriously i've been looking forward to this show for months now, and if the doors are open i'll be there for both the art, lecture and workshop!

ReplyDeleteYes, ten inches of snow would be bad enough, but ten inches of snot would be unbearable. Bring tissues!
Anyway, those who wanted to come Saturday should check with the museum's website or phone. I'll be driving down on Friday, so I'll be in the area. The tentative plan is that if the snow closes the museum, I'll do another talk on Sunday from 2-2:30, (if workshop attendees will excuse me).
It's confirmed, the DE museum is closed Sat., with events rescheduled for Sun. Drat--I was gonna come down from NYC by bus, and am not sure I can do it Sunday. Good thing I hadn't purchased my bus tix yet.

ReplyDeleteMr Gurney, I'm sorry for putting you on the spot at the Philadelphia museum back in February 2010! I asked for a Tylosaurus and you kindly drew me a Stegosaurus instead.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually a surprise for me to see you there at all (or else I would have also seen the lecture). I just so happened to be visiting the museum with my parents that day.
You are one of my favorite illustrators, and out of nowhere I got to meet you in person! I was very nervous. Thank you for being so patient.
Hey, Arborwin, not surprised that I got confused on your sketch request--I have a hard enough time getting names spelled right. Glad you got over being nervous. I'll be back in Philadelphia sometime soon I hope.
