Spectrum Live this weekend

If you live anywhere near the middle of the USA, please come on out to Kansas City, Missouri this weekend, May 18-20 for Spectrum Fantastic Art Live, a huge festival of fantasy and science fiction artwork.

I will have several original paintings exhibited for sale, along with drawings, signed art prints, portfolios, and prints, and other goodies.

This is a great chance to talk informally with all of the artists, get them to sign your books or sketchbooks, or just look at lots of imaginative artwork. The entry fee is very low, only $20 for a day. Hope to see you there if you can make it.

  2. Spectrum will be my first booth at a big convention, and my first (professional) portfolio review. So I'm both incredibly excited and incredibly nervous. But I think it will be an amazing event, and I've been looking forward to it for a long time. Now, back to framing and matting.

  4. Eric -- It's more like Batman and Robin, and I'm Robin. You can sleep under our table as long as your feet don't stick out too much.

Russell -- look forward to meeting you.

Lee -- if you don't live on a continent, where do you live? We live in an alternate reality.

  5. Hello James!

Will you be giving your new world-building demonstration at IMC at all? I checked our schedule, and I think they have you down for a talk on Light & Color (which is great)... but I would still like to hear your thoughts on the topic of creating worlds though!
Can't be in KC, but I'm looking forward to hanging out in Amherst in a few weeks!
    Safe travels,
    -Will

  7. Will, at IMC, I'll be doing one talk about Color and Light and the other about Composition, but I'm thinking of including some of the worldbuilding material in the composition lecture.

  12. Already in KC, a little eager? Perhaps, but it will be worth the drive. Also, taking Artist as Brand is a good excuse to be early. Can't wait to have you sign one of my books, by you. If only I had my childhood copy of Dinotopia....
