At the Edge: One Week Left

There's just a week left of the exhibit "At the Edge: Art of the Fantastic" at the Allentown Art Museum in Pennsylvania. The show has turned out to be one of the most popular in the museum's history.

The organizers have said there will probably never be a larger or more comprehensive museum show of imaginative artwork in our lifetimes. It covers the field from its nineteenth century forebears to the 21st century. The fun is over September 9.

  1. Thanks for the heads up on this! It was totally worth the 10 hour drive. My kids really enjoyed it as well - that hardly ever happens.

Biggest surprise for me was the Mucha painting really popped in person because of the metallic paint used. Reproductions of his work completely and utterly fail to capture it. So your other recommendation has me planning a trip out to Iowa next. :)

Was really neat seeing some of your Dinotopia pieces up close and in person. My 5 year old burst into the Triceratops song when she recognized it from our bedtime reading. :)

  3. James,

I saw this about a month and a half ago and was absolutely blown away. Seeing your work up close (as well as a Greg Manchess painting right next to it - another art hero of mine) was amazing.

We took my grandma for the day, and she was so impressed, not being aware of many contemporary illustrators herself.

It really made me want to get out the oil paint again. But for now it is back to the drawing board (a Wacom Tablet) for me.

    Congratulations on the successful show.
