A painting by John William Waterhouse (1849-1917) has been rediscovered. Before it was only known by its title "The Courtship (Sweet Offerings)."
It's a small painting, only 24 x 12.5 inches, painted early in his career when Waterhouse was still very much under the spell of the work of Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema (1836-1912).
It will be offered for sale next month in a Bonham's auction in London. You can see the original in the auction preview July 7-10. More info at the Bonham's website.

Waterhouse was in a class all his own. Amazing painter who painted timeless paintings.
