Here's a remarkably believable computer rendering of a human eye by Chris Jones, using Lightwave, Sculptris and a little Krita. He wrote the music, too.
To my "eyes" (haha) the textures are spot-on but not all the motions are. I realize that the eyeball moves very quickly. But there's a bit to much jerkiness to these motions.
Very cool! Lightwave has not had much useful press lately... this a good marketing piece for them (Newtek). Eyes are very tough. Even on this sample, the "uncanny valley" creeps trough. The skin folding / constraints look very nice though.
