Watercolor Ban Announced in California


California has just announced sweeping new restrictions on water use that will affect working artists. The ban applies not only to watercolor, but also to acrylic, casein, gouache, and other water media. Pencils and pastels and other dry media are not affected.

    Ha Ha! Funny James! I am in California but since I only use imported water from non-drought affected states it does not apply to me! And if I want to do a snow painting I have a friend in Boston who sends me a cooler of snow which I melt into water and use to paint with!
    So there!

    On a more serious note: Once heard the story about Disney studios during World War II. Paint was scarce, and during those times Mickey Mouse having been depicted without tail in the movies,, just to save some paint.

    I'm not laughing. I very stupidly posted a watercolor yesterday and received a fine in the mail from the City of Fresno water department this afternoon.
