The Spanish edition of "Color and Light" is now available in print form.
It's available from La Casa Del Libro. The response has been excellent, so a Spanish edition of "Imaginative Realism" is coming next.
(PS, I'm a little behind on today's Harold Speed book club post, and I hope to have that out tomorrow.)
...Lucid,

ReplyDeleteWould be interested to know a bit about the process of printing in a foreign market.
ReplyDeleteDo you or your publisher contact various foriegn publishers to look into printing possibilities or do the foreign markets contact you?
How involved are you in the process of a new book in terms of cover image choice and other design options or changes?
As translation can be tricky, especially with concepts and terminology how close do you work with the translators?
I'd been owning for years a copy in English bought from Amazon and a few months ago I found the book in Spanish in a book store I usually go to (I'm spanish). I love to see that finally good books on Art and illustration are starting to be found in the country. Realism and fantasy illustration are not very common here alas. Almost every book I own on the subject have been acquired on the internet.
ReplyDeleteGracias por el mono!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious what the logic behind it being "Luz y Color" instead of the word for word translation "Color y Luz" is.
ReplyDeleteJust that in Spanish those words are usually said in that order. Guess it sounds better than the other way, easier to say too.
DeleteGlenn, our publisher, Andrews McMeel has a subsidiary right department that works with various foreign agents. Sometimes those agents contact publishers overseas, and sometimes they get contacted. After the terms of the contract have been agreed, we review and approve any proposed changes in design, layout, title, and translation. When everything is approved, the foreign publisher moves ahead with the book.
ReplyDeleteIt's also available from amazon.es
ReplyDeleteDespués del éxito en España de "Luz y Color" pronto llegará a librerias "Realismo Imaginativo". Un honor publicar en castellano los libros de Gurney. Gracias maestro!
