Weird limited palette


I love weird limited palettes. This one is purple, cad yellow deep, raw sienna, and white. (Link to FB vid) From the Metro North app.

    When using a weird limited palette like this, how do you decide what color to use where? I think I would have mixed them all together to get a monochrome-mud value sketch whereas your color usage seems to delineate "material" differences (i.e. skin=sienna/yellow, clothing=purple, etc.)
