Ludovicarambelliteatro is a group of dancers / actors who perform quick-changing tableaux vivants of scenes from Caravaggio. (Thanks, Ricky)
Similar concept to the Soundheim stage play "Sunday in the Park with George" that I had the good fortune to see at the 5th Avenue in Seattle. The play is a story woven around Seurat's masterpiece "Sunday Afternoon on the Isle of La Grande Jatte." that is stunningly recreated on stage. I didn't realize there is a DVD of the live performance of the pulitzer prize winning play available. That's on order!
Awesome!! Here's a longer one, James: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIeyulbiB0A
ReplyDelete(psst: plural is tableaux ;))
Mer, thanks for the correction. And I've updated the video to the longer version.
ReplyDeleteJames, thank you for posting. That was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
