Plein-Air Studies by Laurits Tuxen

Here's a group of plein-air studies by Laurits Tuxen (Danish, 1853-1927)

Like most artists of his era, he painted studies during his travels to the Holy Land. He kept these studies as possible reference for his studio paintings.

  1. I love how each one captures a mood with color and atmosphere and light. Bringing out that sense of place as much as physical place. This is something artists of that era seemed to put a premium on.
