Mad Magazine Will Cease Publication

Mad Magazine has announced that after the August issue it is going to cease publishing new material and will no longer be sold on newsstands. The beloved satire magazine, now owned by DC Comics, was published for nearly 70 years and gave us Alfred E. Neuman and the movie satires of Mort Drucker and Jack Davis.

  1. Jack Davis was a genius who inspired an entire generation of artists (myself included) along with the usual gang of idiots. So sad to see it go, but happy I got to experience it while I was growing up.

  2. Thats to bad, sorry to see it go. I grew up reading this, the mag entertained me for many an afternoon. I guess, it just couldn't compete with the Internet.

  4. Darn! That is so disappointing. I appreciated it so much as an adolescent, but then again decades later for the highly skilled cartoonists. I had been thinking that one of these days, I should pick up an issue at the bookstore.

  5. Loved this as a kid and still read it! Definitely not the quality it was in the 60s & 70s but so sad to see it go.
