  1. OK, I know I am not supposed to get pessimistic about what is going on. I am trying.

Yes, nature is resilient. Humans? No.

Maybe realizing that humans' inability to change in time in the face of what we have done is a straightforward efforts/results thing. When we are no longer here, then nature can do its thing and start all over again.

Is that being pessimistic or optimistic?

  2. I thought it poignant that he stated that we have no excuse for unawareness of what is happening to this planet, pointing to the global networks now in place.

The question is, are we able to use this network to come together to save our planet, and each other?

  3. In the big, grand design ...
Considering but only Earth’s age, odds are she (and her “habitat”) will expel humans before humans destroy her. So ... Our ride, tenuous as it is, atop this galactic wonder - the ‘pale blue dot’ [Carl Sagan] - will amount to nothing more than an eyeblink. [Though there is always possibility humans nuke (or some other ingenious man-made capability) themselves to extinction, and Mother Earth will spin and rotate happily on; awaiting her next evolutionary passenger.] In the meantime, we have art - in the sweet spot; between E and h. And we have spiders; artists in their own right.
