I'm back home in College Station briefly, so it's wild knowing you've travelled through the BCS area, as It's not exactly a tourist trap! So I hope you've enjoyed your time here regardless, & would love to hear your experience!
It's also funny timing because I just tried casein painting for the 1st time today, & your extensive info on it was part of the reason I justified spending a bit on on a white and black tube. It was fun, so thank you! I also really appreciate your advice for self-taught artists that I saw a few weeks ago on Youtube. As a young aspiring artist who recently completed an unrelated degree, it's inspiring to know how possible it is to get so good without the luxury of a structured art education. I am also drawn to natural history subjects, particularly birds and primates, & it's thrilling to dive into all the side-subjects that help you do the natural world justice, including color theory & basic anatomy. Did you have any favorite side-subjects when you were first learning?

Beautiful painting and subject! I love the colour scheme! I guess you decide about the colours once you are on the spot... Thanks James!
ReplyDeleteI notice there are different times shown on each clock face. Was this to show us a start and stopping time?

Especially amazing done with so few colors! As others have mentioned, nice to see an artist passing through Texas (I'm in Austin) 😊
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful image!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it, James.
