Experts at the Victoria and Albert Museum have reconstructed the methods used by William Morris to print his wallpaper.

They're using the same original hand-cut wood blocks that Morris used, with as many as 30 different blocks and 15 different colors for each design.

I wonder if the publisher of architectural books Ralph Reinhold is the same
ReplyDeleteReinhold of Van Nostrand Reinhold publishing corp. Don't think so. Mr. Watson is said to use a "broad stroke" pencil technique. Would you characterize his pencil work as such? Maybe it's "broadstroke" but not as obvious as
Ted Kautsky or Schell Lewis.

ReplyDeleteJames when they are comparing the color mix early on (~ 0:54 sec), what is the master color swatch? If it is an original, wouldn't it have faded some by now? If it were a new, are you running the risk of altering the colors slightly from the original?
