Art History, Simplified

OK, all you art history geniuses. Let’s test your Art IQ. I ran across this chart, where each famous artist from history is distilled to his or her essence. See if you can come up with the missing names to go with the numbers. I’ll send a Dinotopia map and bookplate to the person who gets the most correct names before the answers are posted on Sunday.

  12. Ankhey currently has my vote for correct. Franz Hals is a smart answer, 12 could be Turner, 22 is most certainly Chuck Close, except that I'm almost certain the last two are NOT Banksy and Hirst, since I think I've seen this floating around art history classrooms before Banksy became big.

    Do people get knocked out for having /bad/ guesses? *g*

  17. Wait, maybe 4 is Rubens, because the Spanish wore smaller collars because of the desire to conserve fabric... van Dyke could also be an option, but the collars seemed to not be so starched in many of his portraits...
