That link about the movie trend for teal and orange made me think about a certain painter that did do something like that with his "blue phase." ladies and gentlemen I give you Picasso: the Michael Bay of yesteryear! Come to think of it Van Gogh had some self portraits that did this as well, didn't he?
I think this is a great demonstration of how every colour can be used to evoke a number of emotions. Cyan is a great example - unsheathing Sting and the biting cold Misty Mountains next to beautiful serene Lothlórien. Green too: Ringwraiths and the Shire.
