I have a question for visual artists experimenting with Threads: How is the vibe there different from Instagram and Twitter? Is your strategy for posting different? Are you excited about exploring a new platform, or are you kind of bored by social media?

Kind of bored.
I've always thought Instagram was really lacking in that it didn't have a RT/Sharing button, though Threads feels a lot more Twitter/FB than IG. It's a bit mixed tbh.
I'm not terribly excited to buy into yet another Meta social ecosystem for them to pull the rug out from again.
It's very empty at the moment. No reaction to my posts, mostly.
Bored. But, playing with Mastodon and now also confused.

I'm not on Threads and I don't intend to be. I deleted my Twitter and now relax on Mastodon and a bit on Cohost.
I'm bored with social media. I find it tedious and, being 54, I recall how society was before. Social media is being exploited in many ways... rife with narcissism, foreign adversaries (perception management), pornography (LOL), you name it. Who really (I mean really) has time to read through all of it.
Sure, it has its uses. For example, promoting the arts. It's a complicated matter.
With all respect, James, I am not using Threads and I am not going to use the app and I would tell anyone to not use the app.
One look at the data access permissions that application wants you to OK makes me go "nopenopenopenope". It wants to snoop on everything - to the point where you have to allow it access to complete contents of your device.
Well... nope.
Hi James, I've signed up because one of my friends gave me a push. Like Celia, I'm kinda bored of it all too but would like to find an art community. I'm not sure Threads will turn out to be the best place for it though.
Thanks for all your videos on YouTube, I love them and really appreciate you making them for all of us.
best wishes
Janee
