Wire Gate

 


They leave the wire gate open when the horse is out of the back pasture.

I notice cracks and texture showing under the painting, is this painted over another painting? Or did you add the texture for fun?

Yes, there's a ghosted rectangle with lighter edges inside the page. That's from an experiment with textural priming in casein. Just experimenting. The priming is not as absorbent as the raw paper, so the same washes end up darker outside the primed rectangle.

The ghosted rectangle is fascinating - almost like a focusing device. And the gate, slightly open, is so encouraging.
