Year of the Dragon

Happy Chinese New Year. Since it's the year of the dragon, here is a dragon painting that I did.

The oil sketch and finish are for a story by Lucius Shepherd about a dragon the size of a mountain. The painting shows him in late day light, with a little alpine village clustering around his jaws.

When did you do it?

Way back in the mid-'80s. The image appeared later as a greeting card.

Nice. And it does have a 'way back' look about it.

I love the art, AND the story. Is there any chance of either piece showing up for sale?

Unknown--not at the moment. Whenever a piece comes up for sale, auction, or exhibition, I try to mention it on the blog JamesGurneyOriginalArt on blogspot.
