Wisdom from a Peanuts Cartoon

Charlie Brown compliments Linus on his drawing of a man. Charlie says: "I notice that you've drawn him with his hands behind his back. You did that because you yourself have feelings of insecurity."

Linus: "I did that because I, myself, can't draw hands!"

Is very difficult indeed make hands :)

It goes without saying that human hands aren't easy to draw. If I remember correctly, an early edition of Drawing From The Right Side Of The Brain had as an exercise to place one hand on the table and draw it with the other. Dinosaur hands aren't any easier to draw -- except there's usually fewer fingers, and no one can say for sure what they actually looked like.

LOL, my teacher always said that some folks want to draw their figures with "hands in the pockets, feet in the sand and head in the clouds"! I think he got that from Frank Reilly or one of his other teachers at the League....

There is a whole lot of wisdom to be found in Peanuts.

That has been posted in my studio for decades. (But I can, myself, draw hands!)
