Reminder: Outdoor Market in Gouache

In case you missed the announcement late last month, I've issued the challenge to paint an outdoor market in gouache using three colors and white.

Given the look of those paintings, do you think that one could become a "rather proficient" oil painter by just using gouache (mimicking the process of oil painting with washes first etc.)?
I definetely remember the contest :)
