This is Patrick McCormack playing the fiddle at Anderson's Thatched Pub, Carrick-On-Shannon, Roscommon, Ireland.
He was a farmer who came in late from haying, with bits of hay still on his shoulders. Tired as he was he shared his music with us all and took time to show the young players a thing or two.
My next article for International Artist will be about sketching in pubs and concert halls.

this art is wonderful. good job again! you are fantastic!
golly, i didn't write here for a lot of time, and i still love your art.
Jim, I have a semi-random question for you:
Do you ever feel certain technical skills diminish while working in a different way? That is, do you feel less adept at drawing after painting exclusively for an extended period of time? Or do you believe that making a good drawing is like riding a bicycle, once you develop the ability to see and capture, the skill is yours forever? Simply put, do you think creative muscles atrophy?

Jim, I think the opposite happens. Painting brings something fresh to your drawing and vice versa. Oil painting helps your gouache painting and vice versa. It might take an hour or so to remember the knack, but as you say the skill is yours forever.
