What we name our cars tells you all you need to know about where our heads are at, culturally speaking.
Even back in 2000, when I did this sketch, we had car names that basically said, “I’m pissed off with traffic jams so I’m gonna blow out of here and head off by myself down some dirt road.”
But there’s a civilizing side to nature, at least to judge by the second group of names.

My friend Tara recommended your blog. It's a pleasure to discover an artist so dedicated to learning his craft. I find the more I learn about painting, the desire to know more only increases. Fascinating! I look forward to visiting your site in the future.
Best Wishes,
Michelle
Artists guide to Sketching great book! I remember my bro got it from the library one day and it brought me a new outlook on drawing. thanks
james,
i'm curious what made you want to go from someone who didnt own or use a computer to someone who blogs everyday?
great blog by the way!
Glad you enjoy my blog, and Michelle, yours is full of great insights.
Anonymous: Because I'm mostly self-taught in art I have notebooks full of odd thoughts about painting that I've picked up in weird places. It helps me think more clearly about my work if I try to write down those thoughts.
Also, blogging is a great excuse to explore the world of art behind the scenes. And I take a lot of encouragement from people like you who are on the same journey of learning, bouncing ideas back and forth.
