Due to the massive snowstorm bearing down on the mid-Atlantic states, the Delaware Art Museum has announced that it will be closed on Saturday.
The Dinotopia exhibition will open on Sunday instead. I’ll give the Sunday colored pencil workshop as planned, and slip away from 2:00-3:00 for the public lecture presentation, followed by a booksigning. The Museum will stay open an extra hour on Sunday, until 5:00, and I'll be signing books in front of the bookstore from 4-5.
Jeanette and I are driving down today. Hope to see you there on Sunday!
---
UPDATE: SUNDAY MORNING, 6 AM. The Museum is scheduled to open to the public at noon, and it will stay open until 5:00, an hour later than usual. I'll give my presentation, "Fact and Fantasy: The Making of Dinotopia" at 2:00 in the auditorium. All are welcome.
WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS, you can come an hour early, at 11:00, and enter in the Studio entrance. The Delaware Art Museum's phone number is (302) 571-9590.

Man, if ever there was a picture of invincible determination! Those snowflakes better not mess with this dude...
haha! awesome picture and great news! I hope they clear the roads enough from lower DE.
really really looking forward to the show, lecture and workshop. sunday will be like a dinotopia explosion and i'm looking forward to being mentally disabled from the blast!
one quick question, what time do you start the workshop on sunday...the museum has two different times posted, the section with info for the workshop says 11am, the new schedual posted for museum hours says it dosnt open the doors till 12?
i called and they said the same thing, haha, the museum dosnt open till 12 but the class starts at 11? hmmmmm?? ...please advise...
I wouldn't put it past you to unicycle there if you had to - good luck!
I will like to give you guys a little piece of this tropical sun!!!
I'll be there!! :D (Hopefully!)
Goo Goo --Good question. Here's what I heard from Dennis at the Museum: "The workshop does start at 11am, and then the Museum opens to the public at 12. Workshop attendees will be able to enter the studio wing at 11am."
Man you really keep an active blog, thats great!
Best, AG

I'm in the DC area... we are getting HAMMERED! I call it Snowgnarok!
Brett--We are too. They're calling it SNOWPOCALYSE on the news. There's supposed to be another storm coming Tuesday and Wednesday, too!
As of Saturday afternoon we're waiting for the Delaware authorities to lift the state of emergency so that people can drive. The snow's supposed to last until early evening. So far the Museum is set to open Sunday morning, but everyone please stay posted.
james i'm really hoping that everything stays open, but it is looking rough!! i will definatly make it to the exhibit some time in the next month if they are closed tomorrow, but i'm wondering....
will you be coming back down for a class and lecture in the next few months if this weekend is shut down?
please do!!!!!
Eric, it's too early to speculate on that--let's see what happens tomorrow. I suspect conditions will be OK by the morning, but we'll see. I'll post any updates here as soon as I get them.
I am hoping for a clear road to the Art Museum on Sunday. I will get my sherpa to drive me, if necessary. I have so been looking forward to meeting Jim and taking the workshop.
Judy, Dragonlady
roads are impenetrable, snow is impetuous, car driving is impregnable...in other words i is stuck!!!
and the kick when i was down was when i went back inside and checked the mail.....my info from the delaware museum for the workshop...gee thanks, haha!
please reconsider coming down again and having another workshop and lecture for those of us who are snow bound....
but hope you have a great workshop and a wonderful show!! congratulations!!
well, that's a shame about the snow. I was planning on coming up with my son and wife to see your presentation and the show. But there's no way to get out of Baltimore today. So I'm really disappointed that my son won't be able to see your talk, since he seems to have a budding interest in art, but we'll have to drive up later to see the show.
Goo Goo, we missed you, but you're not alone. Of the 23 that signed up, only 15 were able to make it. And some had a pretty tough trek to get there. Les, we missed you, too, and all the rest. I'll be doing the workshop another time, don't worry. The museum will refund your money if weather prevented you from coming.
Dude, where'd ya get them bitchin' goggles.
I'm terribly sorry that I missed the workshop. I've been looking forward to it. My car was snowed in, plowed in, and blocked in by another car. I finally got it out late Sunday. I will have to keep my eyes open for a future opportunity nearby. I was going to get you to sign my old copy of The Artist's Guide to Sketching, too.
I'm glad you got 15 folks in. Based on what I could see out of my front door, I would have thought it was going to be rescheduled. At least you left us the show, so I'll have to be happy to visit with some of your beautiful illustrations!
Bill, those are Mongolian mountaineering gogges. I got them from a guy who went to Tibet.
Jake, sorry to miss you, and thanks for trying. It won't be a workshop, but I'll do my lecture on Thursday at 12:35 at DCAD at the Delaware Historical Society auditorium in Wilmington. Now, that would be weather permitting, and with this second storm looming for all day Wednesday, it's anyone's guess if things will be cleared up by then. Keep checking.
